Marilyn Jeanette Henderson Anderson, beloved wife and mother, passed away at home of natural causes on July 16, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 16, 1930, in Hallock Minnesota, the daughter of Myron and Minnie (Skogan) Henderson. Marilyn attended school in rural Kittson County, graduating from Lancaster High School, in 1948. She then attended Luther College and attained her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools near Kendallville until her marriage to Erlin Theodore Anderson on November 3, 1951, at the Fremont Lutheran Church.
Marilyn and Erlin farmed in Winneshiek County near Kendallville until April of 2000, at which point they moved to Cresco, Iowa. Marilyn and Erlin became the parents of 6 children: Virginia “Ginger” Anderson-Larson (Keith Larson), Rebecca “Becky” Anderson (Andrew Tully), R’Delle Anderson (Paul Ely), Lorri Anderson Vaughn (Steve Vaughn), Paula Green (Steve Green), and Donald “Don” Anderson (Jaci Dusheck).
She is survived by 13 grandchildren: Benjamin Larson, Zachary (Kristin) Larson, Stephanie (Ken) Griffith, Courtney (Drew) Vipperman, Samuel (Heidi) Larson, Davy Newell, Jessie Newell, Karn (AJ) Friedges, Daniel (Kathryn) Newell, Donny Newell, Lindsey Anderson, Tessa Anderson, and Bella Ely; 17 great-grand children,a “sister/cousin” Lila (Benson) Christensen, her sister-in-law, Heidi Henderson Woldridge, her niece, Patti Henderson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Lois Anderson, and several cousins, nieces and nephews in both the Henderson and Anderson families.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Donald Myron Henderson (1961), her sister, Beverly Caroline Henderson (1935), her nephew, David Myron Henderson (1975) and her son-in-law, John Steven Vaughn (2007).
A family service was held at First Lutheran Church in Cresco, with burial at Fremont Cemetery.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Hospice of Howard County for their loving professional care of and service to Marilyn and her family.
