Loren Milne, 90, of Harmony, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 at his home. Â
Loren was born on December 22, 1930 to Leland & Mabel Ida (Lund) Milne. He attended Scotland Country School for eight years and was a 1948 graduate of Harmony High School. He was drafted into the army from 1952 to 1954, (a Korean War Veteran) serving overseas. Shortly after returning to California he began working as a carpenter. He later moved back to Harmony and began farming in 1958. When retiring off the farm, Loren built a home in Harmony.Â
He met the love of his life, Drucilla (Drucie) Ritchart at a dance in Rochester, MN in 1959. They were married on December 10, 1960, and were able to celebrate 60 years together. They began farming on the home farm where they lived and raised their two children for 45 years. Loren worked for contractors, whenever time allowed, during the 47 years he farmed (1958-2005).Â
Loren and Drucie loved to entertain, hosting both family and neighborhood gatherings. Their above ground pool was enjoyed by many. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, bowling, golfing, watching sports and having coffee with friends often. Â
Loren’s church, family and friends were important to him. He served in his childhood church, Richland Prairie Presbyterian Church, on the Scotland Cemetery board as treasurer from 1962 - 1995, remaining as a board member until his death. He was a member of the Harmony American Legion, and held the role of Chaplin for 15 years.  He became a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony when his children became of school age. He served as a member on a building committee for three years and finished a one year term on the church council.Â
Loren enjoyed his Amish neighbors and friends. He was an Amish tour guide in the Canton and Harmony area for several years after retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Loren is survived by his wife, Drucilla, a daughter Julie (Don) Barrett of Harmony, grandchildren Bradley (Elizabeth) Barrett of Harmony (great grandchildren; Michael, Ariannah, and Kara Barrett), Benjamin Barrett of Rochester, Minnesota and Brady Barrett of Harmony, a son John (Marcia) Milne of Burnsville, Minnesota (grandchildren; Lauren, Thomas and Gigi). Â He was also greatly loved by many nieces and nephews. Â
The family requests that those wishing to give memorials may do so privately to Greenfield Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice, in memory of Loren. Â
A private family gathering will be held as of this time.
